Mark Zuckerberg Now Wealthier Than Google Founders
MASHABLE - Sep 22 - Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has a personal net worth of $17.5 billion, edging out Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page for the first time, according to Forbes‘s annual “Richest People in America” list. Zuckerberg, who was number 35 on the list last year, is number 14 on the list now, just below Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who has a personal fortune worth $19.1 billion.

Google+ Now Open to Public
PROFIT NDTV - Sep 21 - Google has thrown open its recently launched social network to everyone. Google unveiled 'Google Plus' in late June as part of efforts to garner a share of the lucrative social networking space that has so far been dominated by Facebook, which has ~750M users worldwide.

Glam Buys Ning for $150 Million
TECH CRUNCH - Sep 21 - Ning has finally found a home. Glam Media is buying the network of social networks. A source puts the deal price higher, at $150 million. Ning’s co-founder, chairman, and original investor Marc Andreessen will be joining Glam’s board as part of the deal.

Facebook Global Revenue Expected to Hit $4.27B
CNET NEWS - Sep 20 - Facebook global revenue will hit $4.27 billion this year, up from $2 billion last year, according to eMarketer. Facebook is also on track to pull in $3.8 billion from advertising worldwide, that's up 104% compared to last year's $1.86 billion. Facebook is widely expected to file next year for an IPO, which some reports say could be based on a valuation of $100 billion.

MyHeritage.com Acquires BackupMyTree
TECH CRUNCH - Sep 20 - MyHeritage.com, a relatively heavily-funded Israeli startup operating a huge family-based social network, has acquired BackupMyTree, which enables people to automatically backup their family history for free. This is the sixth acquisition by MyHeritage.com – recent purchases include Germany’s OSN , Poland’s Bliscy.pl and Dutch Family Network ZOOOF. MyHeritage.com says its is now home to ~800M profiles and 20M family trees.

Google Buys German Groupon Clone DailyDeal
TECH CRUNCH - Sep 19 - DailyDeal.de, a German Groupon clone launched in Berlin in Dec '09, has been acquired by Google. DailyDeal did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement. The company offers visitors daily deals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and has raised ~$10M .

YouTube Founders Buy Yahoo Castoff Delicious
NY TIMES - Sep 19 - YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen are trying to inject new life into Delicious, a social bookmarking service that Yahoo was ready to abandon after it failed to build a broad audience. "What we plan to do," Hurley said, "is try to introduce Delicious to the rest of the world." They declined to disclose financial details of the transaction. The revamped service will still resemble the original Delicious when it opens to the public, which would happen this year.
